WDNA Presents: Vincent Hsu

Internationally acclaimed bassist and composer Vincent Tsung-Yu Hsu leads the Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band to present “Spirits From Both Sides,” a captivating fusion of jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms, bringing together celebrated musicians from Taiwan and the United States to create a unique sonic landscape inspired by Hsu’s Taiwanese roots. Join us on a journey through a vibrant tapestry of sound as they perform selections from Hsu’s upcoming release, Spirits From Both Sides, which unravels intriguing parallels between Taiwanese folk culture and Afro-Latin spiritual beliefs, as well as his new works drawing inspiration from his latest visit to West Africa exploring the deep connection with Afro-Latin music traditions. The band features Vincent Tsung-Yu Hsu on the double bass, Reinaldo Melian on trumpet, David Fernandez on saxophone, Shih-Chun Lee on guitar, and Kuan-Liang Lin on drums.
