Selector Sessions with DJ Le Spam brings vinyl DJs and collectors to the airwaves on Miami’s community radio station WDNA 88.9FM. Recorded live to analog tape every Saturday afternoon at Reserved Hifi in Miami’s Little River neighborhood, this series was created as a platform for DJs to show off their most special records outside of the typical Miami nightclub environment. Every week the show will highlight one Miami vinyl curator alongside a set by host DJ Le Spam.
Each session will open with selections from DJ Le Spam’s vast, personal collection of Latin, Funk, Miami-bass, Haitian, Brazilian, and of course, Jazz. Featured guests will include Mr Brown, Lula Rios, Ack Daddy, Djinji Brown, RicoSon, and other top Miami collectors and DJs.
Since childhood, Michael Valentine has been steeped in music. His father and grandfather were musicians, arrangers, and teachers. In high school, he was one of the first to carry around a now iconic Sony Walkman, a pair of headphones always decorating his brow as he wondered the halls. Nights were spent recording radio shows for his fictional radio station, WHACK Radio. Those tapes are, unfortunately, lost to time!
