The Headhunters

Legendary jazz-funk pioneers The Headhunters bring their energetic sonic innovation to ZeyZey on September 14 with local support by Miami’s favorite nu jazz band Electric Kif and soulful selector Djinjo Brown. Formed in 1973 alongside Herbie Hancock, The Headhunters reshaped modern jazz, funk, and world music with their groundbreaking fusion sound. Their influence is everywhere – sampled by hip-hop greats, revered by generations of musicians, and still evolving more than five decades later. As founding member Bennie Maupin once reflected: “We weren’t just playing songs – we were creating a new language.” That language comes alive on the stage in Little River for one night only.
