Over the course of four albums, Puerto Rico–born, Los Angeles–based musician Pachy García has established his Pachyman moniker as a vital force in modern dub reggae. Working from his basement studio, 333 House, he’s long honored the lineage of King Tubby and The Scientist – building dense soundscapes with vintage gear and an intuitive grasp of repetition. A veteran of Puerto Rico’s reggae and experimental rock scenes and the LA noise-pop underground, Pachy now embraces his voice as much as his instruments, layering improvised mantras and harmonies that reveal both anxiety and joy. Still rooted in dub reggae, Another Place affirms Pachyman’s refusal to repeat himself – transforming tradition into something wholly his own.
