Jazz Encounters: Ruben Caban Quintet

Award winning Puerto Rican trombonist Ruben Caban brings a unique blend of original music that can best be described as “Latin-Infused Hard Bop.” From swing to funk, to Latin jazz blues and neo-soul, this fiery quintet is sure to encourage some dance moves with their infectious rhythms. Ruben Caban has had an extensive career touring and/or recording as a sideman and soloist with an array of internationally renowned artists such as;  Dianne Shurr, Michael Feinstein, Randy Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Ed Calle, Brian Lynch, Antonio Adolfo, Nestor Torres, Ira Sullivan, Frankie Valli, Jon Secada, Raul Diblasio, The Platters, The Stylistics, Roberto Carlos, Sandra De Sa, The O’Jays, Cheo Feliciano, Giovanni Hidalgo, Vico C, Oscar De Leon, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuel, Michael Stuart, La India, Paquito De Rivera, and is part of  Ed Calle’s 2015 Latin Grammy award winning album Ed Calle Presents Mamblue and many more.

Ticket holders are invited to arrive at 7pm to enjoy a pre-show reception catered by The Fish House. Students are invited to claim one of the limited free tickets and join the post-show jam session.
