Jazz Encounters: Kemuel Roig

The first Jazz Encounters of 2026 features stellar Cuban American pianist Kemuel Roig performing in WDNA’s intimate Jazz Gallery. A piano prodigy, Roig has performed with Arturo Sandoval and Al di Meola, among many others, and has been hailed by Chucho Valdes as “superman on the piano.”

His most recent project features extraordinary musicians José “Majito” Aguilera on percussion and Manuel Orza on electric bass. This vibrant fusion of Latin jazz breathes new life into timeless jazz standards. From a high-energy rendition of “Take the A Train” to a heartfelt bolero rendition of “Sabor A Mí,” the album is infused with fresh interpretations and virtuosic improvisation, highlighting Roig’s ability to seamlessly blend tradition with innovation.

Arrive at 7pm to enjoy an exhibition by artist Gabriel da Silva and a pre-show reception catered by The Fish House.
