Since their formation in Jamaica in 1972, Black Uhuru has been one of the most popular roots reggae groups worldwide. The band was awarded the first ever Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1985, among countless accolades and awards, global tours, and major hit songs from their extensive catalogue. While most-known for their late-’70s and ’80s classics – years defined by a game of musical chairs within the group with some of reggae music’s all time greats – 2025 finds the group still in top form, led by founding member Duckie Simpson and co-lead Andrew Bees, the configuration in place since 1997.
